In this session, I will provide an overview of the student open-source community ecosystem in Taiwan, sharing how students independently built and sustained a large-scale open-source community from scratch, and how we introduce the next generation to open-source culture. We will also examine the core challenges faced by youth volunteer organizations and explore how open collaboration and community culture help address these hurdles.
I will talk about:
- Overview of student open source communities in Taiwan and why SITCON was founded.
- Introduce SITCON’s core activities and positioning, and provide an in-depth introduction to how we use open-source tools for organizational collaboration and knowledge transfer.
- Volunteer diversity, addressing the rising career anxiety among students, and sustaining engagement through human connections and participant-to-organizer transformation.
- Summary and open Q&A to facilitate mutual dialogue on student community engagement across borders.
