Most people in Korea know that Korea could become the 3rd most advanced AI country in the world. In the EU, people say that the EU should be number 3. In Canada and Japan, they also talk about becoming number 3. But how can any of these become number 3 when they are each missing important pieces of the puzzle?
They’re working together. Not many people know that. And they’re going to use FOSS to make it work.
These countries have decided that collaboration is the winning strategy. The EU & South Korea Digital Cooperation Treaty was signed in 2022 and the EU-South Korea Digital Trade Agreement in 2026.
This presentation will show the deep connections that the EU and Korea have formed since 2022. The treaties are signed. When our countries work together, we have the data, the chips, the experts, and a market of customers. The last missing piece: who can organise massive international collaboration with transparency and trust? FOSS has the answer: we’ve been doing this for four decades.
This presentation will show that this is the biggest collaboration on AI, and that it is a real plan with real chances of success. There are funding opportunities and there are opportunities to help make this a success. This presentation shows why the FOSS communities of Europe and Korea should build connections and help both become the number 3, or 2, or the number 1 for AI, with freedom and openness.
