A short introduction to AT protocol and Tangled. Every code host asks you to make a new account. Your username, your followers, your issues and your review history live on that host, and none of it comes with you when you leave. The AT Protocol, the protocol Bluesky is built on, takes a different position: your identity is an identifier you own, your data lives in a repository you control, and applications read from and write to it rather than owning it. Tangled is a git collaboration platform built that way. This talk covers what atproto does, how Tangled maps code collaboration onto it, and the parts of Tangled that have nothing to do with atproto at all.
